Creating and Amending Nominal and Management code relationships
Updated
by Caroline Buckland
The process
Relationships between the nominal and management codes should be defined. The relationship could be set to automatic in which case any valid management code can be used with the nominal.
A manual setting would require a list of valid management codes to be set up in the Chart of Accounts.
A blank setting signifies that the management code may not be used with the nominal.
Additionally, analysis code requirements may be defined as optional, mandatory or not to be used (rejected).
If you have created manual relationships the following steps are required to create or amend those relationships.
Example data: the Nominal used in this example has a Manual relationship to code ID A which is a cost centre in this company.

Option 1
Nominal/Management code relationship
You can create relationships by accessing the nominal code, or management code. This section looks at nominal code.
Access the following menus:
General Ledger>GL Chart of Accounts>Maintain Nominals
Locate the Nominal you wish to create relationship for. In the MC Relationship Code ID we will enter A to represent the cost centre.

Select Search. The nominal code will be retrieved.
Select the Rtlnships Amend action.

The Nominal/Management Code Relationships screen will be displayed, enter all valid cost centres that are allowed with the nominal code.

Once complete select the Save button.
Option 2
Nominal/Management code relationship
Access the following menus:
General Ledger>GL Chart of Accounts>Maintain Management/Analysis codes
Locate the Management code by entering a code in the selection window.

Select Search.
Select the Relationships: Amend Noml action.

Enter all valid nominals.

Select Save once complete.
